# Gemral Edge API Data License — v1

**Version:** 1.5 · **Effective:** 23 October 2026 · **Applies to:** the Gemral Edge REST API v1, webhooks and MCP server when used under the API plan; section 8 (Internal Use License) and section 9 (AI Training License) apply when a signed order form names them.

This license explains what you may do with data you receive from the Gemral Edge API. It sits alongside the Gemral Edge Terms (https://www.gemral.com/edge/terms). If the two conflict for API data, this license applies. A signed order form, if you have one, overrides both.

## 1. What the data is

- The underlying records are public records, described by category in the DDQ (section 2): U.S. congressional financial disclosure filings, U.S. federal procurement and contract-award public records, U.S. securities-regulator public filings, U.S. federal regulatory publications and U.S. federal lobbying disclosure filings. Nobody owns those public records, including us.
- The physical infrastructure dataset (data-center sites, power plants, grid load, equipment imports as industry-level context rather than company shipments, and satellite measurements) also draws on open map data (ODbL 1.0) and public satellite imagery. We deliver only results derived from the map data (substation name, voltage and distance), never the map layer, and you may not use our data to rebuild that layer. Keep these attributions when you publish results that show those fields: "© OpenStreetMap contributors" and "Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data 2023-2026". Details: DDQ section 13 (https://www.gemral.com/edge-ddq.md).
- Gemral Edge adds work of its own on top: matching filings to tickers and people, deduplication, event classification, scores, convergence signals, forecasts and their resolution ledger. That added layer is what this license covers.
- **Source commitment:** Gemral Edge data comes only from public sources. It contains no material non-public information (MNPI), and we do not buy, solicit or accept non-public information for the product.
- The data is informational. It is not investment advice, a recommendation, or an offer to buy or sell any security.

## 2. What you may do

With an active API plan (paid or an approved trial, see section 4) you may:

1. Use the data inside your organisation to build, test and run your products (development, QA, dashboards and internal tools that support those products).
2. **Display and embed the data and results you derive from it inside your own products** (apps, websites, client reports, paid newsletters) for your own end users.
3. Store the data in your own systems (data warehouse, notebooks, caches) while your plan is active.

**Who this license is not for.** The API Data License does not cover a fund, investment manager, proprietary trading firm or other investment business using the data for its own research, models, backtests or trading decisions. That use needs the Internal Use License (section 8).

**History depth.** Under the API plan, an API key reads the **most recent 24 months** of history (730 days, counted back from the start of the current UTC day) through the REST API, the MCP server and file exports. A request for older records is refused with the error `history_limit_exceeded`, which states the earliest date you can read; it is not silently trimmed. Deeper history is available only under the Internal Use License.

When people outside your organisation can see Gemral Edge data, show the attribution **"Data: Gemral Edge"** with a link to https://www.gemral.com/edge where the layout allows a link.

## 3. What you may not do

1. Resell, sublicense or redistribute the **raw data** as a standalone dataset, data feed, file dump or API, or bundle it so that the raw data can be extracted in bulk by your users.
2. Use the data to build or run a service that competes with Gemral Edge as a data provider.
3. Share your API keys or let people outside your organisation call the API with them.
4. Remove the attribution, misrepresent where the data came from, or present Gemral Edge scores or forecasts as your own.
5. Use the API in a way that tries to get around rate limits, export quotas, the history limit or access controls.
6. Use the data for your own investment research or trading decisions if you are a fund or investment business (see section 8).

Derived results (your own analysis, aggregates, charts, signals built from several inputs) are yours. The line is raw-data resale: if a user of your product could rebuild our feed from what you show, that is redistribution of raw data.

## 4. Trials

An approved institutional trial (number of days: see https://www.gemral.com/edge/pricing) is for **evaluation only**. During a trial you may test the data internally and in staging, but you may not put it into a production product shown to your end users until you are on a paid plan. Trials approved before 18 October 2026 keep the history access they were given until the trial ends.

## 5. After your plan ends

- You may keep your own derived results (models, research, aggregates) and anything you already published under section 2.
- Delete raw Gemral Edge data held in your systems within **30 days** after the plan ends, unless a signed agreement says otherwise.

## 6. Service levels and support

- Target availability: 99.5% per calendar month, without service credits. Live status: https://www.gemral.com/edge/status
- Support by email at support@gemral.com, usually within one business day. There is no 24/7 on-call.
- Credit-backed SLAs are available only through a separately signed agreement.

## 7. Paperwork

An order form and our vendor tax form are available on request at support@gemral.com.

## 8. Internal Use License (funds and trading firms)

This variant applies when a signed order form names the **Internal Use License**. It is for investment managers, hedge funds and proprietary trading firms that want the full point-in-time history for their own research and trading. Where it differs from sections 2–5, this section applies.

**What you get**

- The full point-in-time history of the licensed datasets, delivered as yearly Parquet files with a manifest (row counts and sha256 checksums) through short-lived signed download links, plus REST API v1 access for ongoing updates with no 24-month history limit.
- A machine-readable data dictionary and the Data Due Diligence Questionnaire: https://www.gemral.com/edge-ddq.md

**What you may do**

1. Use the data inside your organisation, including your affiliates and investment advisers working under your control, for research, model building, backtests, portfolio construction, risk and live trading decisions.
2. Give access to your auditors, administrators and regulators where they need it, under a duty of confidentiality.
3. **Publish aggregated derived results** (performance figures, research notes, investor letters, charts or statistics) as long as the raw records cannot be read back or rebuilt from what you publish.

**What you may not do**

1. Redistribute, resell, sublicense or share the **raw data** with anyone outside your organisation, in any form (files, feeds, APIs, screens, or as a component of a product for third parties).
2. Display or embed the data in products for outside end users. That needs the standard API license (section 2), which is a separate plan.
3. Any use listed in section 3.

**Term, renewal and fees**

- The term is **12 months** from the start date in the order form.
- The license renews for further 12-month terms unless either side gives written notice at least 30 days before the end of the term.
- Fees are set in the order form. The order form may include a price increase that applies at renewal.
- At the end of the term, section 5 applies: you keep your derived results and delete raw data within 30 days, unless the order form says otherwise.

## 9. AI Training License (model developers)

This variant applies when a signed order form names the **AI Training License**. It is for companies that want to train, fine-tune or evaluate machine-learning models on Gemral Edge data. Where it differs from sections 2–5, this section applies.

**What you get**

- The licensed datasets named in the order form, delivered as Parquet files with a manifest (row counts and sha256 checksums) and a machine-readable data dictionary, through short-lived signed download links. History depth and update frequency are set in the order form.
- The Data Due Diligence Questionnaire: https://www.gemral.com/edge-ddq.md

**What you may do**

1. Use the data inside your organisation, including contractors working for you under a duty of confidentiality, to train, fine-tune, evaluate and test machine-learning models.
2. Deploy, commercialise and offer to outside users the models you train, and the outputs those models generate.
3. Keep the trained models (weights and parameters) after the term ends.

**What you may not do**

1. Redistribute, resell, sublicense or publish the **raw data**, including as a training set, benchmark or evaluation set released to third parties.
2. Build or tune a model or service so that it reproduces Gemral Edge records verbatim in bulk, or offer it as a way to read our records back as a data feed.
3. Use the data to build or run a service that competes with Gemral Edge as a data provider.
4. Use the data for your own investment research or trading decisions if you are a fund or investment business. That needs the Internal Use License (section 8).
5. Any use listed in section 3.

**Third-party attributions and personal names**

- Fields derived from open map data and public satellite imagery keep the conditions in section 1. You may not use our data to rebuild the map layer.
- The records include names and roles of public officials, filers and corporate insiders exactly as they appear in public filings. You are responsible for processing them lawfully in the jurisdictions where you train and deploy your models.

**Term, renewal and fees**

- The term is **12 months** from the start date in the order form and renews on the same terms as section 8.
- Fees are set in the order form. Pricing is quoted on request by email at support@gemral.com.
- At the end of the term, delete raw Gemral Edge data held in your systems within 30 days, unless the order form says otherwise. Models trained during the term may be kept and used.

## 10. Changes

We may update this license. Each version has a number and an effective date, and the previous version keeps applying to your current billing period. Material changes are announced by email to API account owners.
